Directions to Burton: Metrocentre is located three miles south west of Newcastle upon Tyne on the A1 west of Gateshead. Travelling to Metrocentre could not be easier with almost 10,000 free car parking spaces, a Public Transport Interchange, a train station and a coach park which can accommodate up to 350 coaches. By Car
Situated right on the A1, Metrocentre is easily accessible. Shoppers visiting Metrocentre in the evening to take advantage of leisure facilities and restaurants should park in either the yellow or blue car parks.
From the south
Travel along the A1(M) northbound
From the A1 Washington Services (Birtley) keep to left at junction 65 and continue on A1 (signs for A1 Gateshead, Newcastle)
Continue on A1 (Gateshead/Newcastle Western Bypass) for approx 6 miles
Exit left (signs for Metrocentre) and turn right onto Hollinside Road
Continue through traffic lights towards Metrocentre.
From the north
Join the A1 southbound towards Newcastle and Gateshead (signs for The South A1M, Gateshead)
Continue on A1 until you see exit sign for Metrocentre.

By Bus
Over 100 buses an hour arrive at Metrocentre’s Transport Interchange from throughout the North East. The CentreLink Service X66 operates from Gateshead Metro Interchange every 7 – 8 minutes during the day, every 10 minutes during weekday evenings and every 15 minutes during weekend evenings.
Metrocentre Shuttle 100 from Newcastle City Centre is a fast and frequent service bringing you from the heart of Newcastle in just 15 minutes. There is a service every 8 minutes during the day, every 12-15 minutes during evenings and every 12 minutes on Sunday from Newcastle Monument and Central Station.

Metrocentre Circular Buses
Metrocentre retailers, and those surrounding the Centre, can be accessed by a comprehensive Circular Bus Service which calls at all four mall entrances, also calling at Metro Retail Park, Gala Bingo, Asda and Ikea.

By Metro
The Metro light rail system is a short bus ride away from both Newcastle and Gateshead centre via Monument, Central and Gateshead Metro stations. A transfare ticket on the Metro system will allow transfer to any bus to complete your journey to Metrocentre. Visit the website for further information.
By Train
Metrocentre is on the national rail network and has its own train station. It takes just 7 minutes by train from Newcastle Central Station with trains during the day around every 15 minutes, less frequently during evenings and on Sundays.

By Taxi
Free phones are available in the Centre for your return home and are located at the entrances to: green, red and yellow malls, Public Transport Interchange, Coach park and at Customer ervices Desks. Pick up the phone at these locations and you will automatically be connected to the taxi control centre.
By Bicycle
Metrocentre is located on the National Cycle Network and also has a shared use cycleway / footpath which runs around the outside of the Centre. There is covered secure cycle parking at each mall entrance and also at the entrance to House of Fraser.
